Louise Couchman

Role

Louise is the Course Lead for the BSc Occupational Therapy course and a Senior Lecturer in Occupational Therapy. She teaches across both the BSc and MSc programmes.

Career overview

Louise has been a qualified Occupational Therapist for several years and has developed specialist skills within Hand Therapy rehabilitation and splinting.  Here she had many roles including contributing to primary research, leadership and developing courses for future Hand Therapists.  Louise is HCPC registered and an active member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapy.

Louise has been in Higher Education, within the field of Occupational Therapy, for a number of years and has a passion and interest in supporting and facilitating student learning both in the classroom and during their time on placements.

Louise currently supports students during their final Research Modules and draws on knowledge from her own studies, MA in Education and clinical experiences in research.

External activity

In addition to her academic roles, Louise is currently a joint chair for the 'RCOT Practice Placement Tutor Forum'.
