MSc Digital Architecture and Construction portfolio advice
Information about submitting your digital portfolio as part of your application for MSc Digital Architecture and Construction.
What to know before preparing your portfolio
In order for NTU to consider your application for MSc Digital Architecture and Construction you will be required to submit a digital portfolio of your creative work that demonstrates a passion and interest in digital architecture and construction.
We know there's a lot to think about when it comes to readying and preparing a portfolio of work - like what to include, how to showcase your best work, and how to exhibit your sense of creative identity.
We've pulled together some useful advice to give you a better understanding of what you should consider before applying and what we'll be looking for when we receive your portfolio ahead of providing an offer to join the course.
What to include in your portfolio
The portfolio should contain between 5-10 examples of your previous architectural or technological work and must be in a range formats and media. More precisely, this may consist of the following:
- Examples of 3D internal and/ or external renders.
- Example of 2D Drawings and/ or rendered 2D drawings such as floor plans, sections, and elevation
- Photographs of physical models that you have previously made.
- Any other work that demonstrates your interest in Digital Architecture and Construction (e.g., technology related work, 3D printed model, light/ energy Simulations, structural analysis, etc.)
Note: Each example should be accompanied with a short description on when and why the projects were undertaken.
For those with a non-cognate degree(s) but with an interest in Digital Architecture/ Construction, you are welcome to submit any relevant work that you have undertaken as part of your previous education, industry related experience or as an activity outside your formal educational background. However, this must be supported by 300 words description of your interest of developing your educational/career pathway into one of Digital Architecture and Construction.
How to submit your portfolio
Please submit your digital portfolio as a PDF file. You should also:
- Submit no more than 10 pages. If necessary, you could include more than one image of each piece of work, plus short descriptions.
- Submit as a single unzipped file not exceeding 10 megabytes (Mb).
- Ensure that all images have a high-quality.
What happens after submitting your portfolio
When we receive your application form and digital portfolio, they will be carefully reviewed for consideration by the course admissions tutor. We will use these to look for evidence of intellectual engagement and digital/ technical skills.
We aim to inform you of the decision within 20 working days of receiving your complete application pack.
An electronic copy of work submissions will be retained by NTU for the duration of the annual application cycle, but will not be held on file for longer than this. Please therefore ensure that all files sent to us are copies.
NTU will not use any work submitted for any purposes other than the student application process
