Equality and Diversity

The Department of Psychology is committed to promoting an inclusive environment for all colleagues and students. The department actively champions equality and diversity.
We are a values based department which:

  • Encourages applications from all individuals, with offers of work or places to study made on the basis of merit.
  • Ensures that our environment is inclusive for all our staff and students in which everyone can fulfil their potential, regardless of their background, individual characteristics and personal circumstances.

The departmental EDI committee oversees working groups which further our knowledge and make recommendations for change for wide ranging issues around EDI. This includes our Athena SWAN commitment which focuses on gender equality. The departmental lead for this work is Dr Gayle Dillon who put together our application for a departmental Athena Swan Bronze award.  She is also the lead on the department Success for All strategy, which links to the overall strategy of the University in ensuring University is a place where people from all backgrounds can thrive and achieve.
