Danny Coates - Level 6 Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship

Why did you choose to do an apprenticeship?

“I chose to do an apprenticeship as I have several years' experience within a manufacturing environment and knew to develop myself as a professional manager, enhancing my knowledge with theory would support this.”

Why did you choose NBS and NTU?

“Nottingham had a strong reputation. They have won awards as the University of the Year and have strong accolades within its business school. It was the local university when I was operating out of Kegworth and I have chosen to stay at NTU whilst operating out of Rugby.”

How do you believe this apprenticeship will affect both your current job role and future career?

“The apprenticeship has allowed me to better understand myself as well as consider stakeholder relationships and the impact that I can have on them through better understanding of their role. This will continue as I progress as a professional manager and I look forward to applying my learnings in my work environment and making a difference at Britvic.”

How would you rate the teaching and support staff on this apprenticeship?

“Overall, I think that the staff have done a truly fantastic job. Joanne and Louise for me are the two which truly make the experience of being at NTU and this course stand out for me. The support, feedback, and openness of these two stands out for me and when I am asked, I often refer to their styles and the way they teach as being a positive of being at NTU.”

The most enjoyable part of my apprenticeship is the relevance to my role and applying new tools and techniques to what I do day to day.

What advice would you give to someone considering a higher/ degree apprenticeship?

“Ensure that you have an open mind and are open to learning. Do not assume because you are thriving in your current work role, that there are not copious amounts of tools and experiences to be learned.”

If you could describe your apprenticeship in 5 words, what would they be?

“Greatest personal achievement to date!”
