Q) Can we change the course they applied for?

A) Yes, but this will need to be approved by the Programme Leader and is subject to places being available.

A formal email will be required from your young person and sent to fe.enquires@ntu.ac.uk with their GCSE results. We will endeavour to reply with a decision within 48 hours.

Q) My young person got an E/2 in English/maths. Can they retake their GCSE's whilst they are doing the Level 2 course?

A) Yes, but their application will be reviewed by our admissions panel to ensure they will be able to cope with the academic levels of the programme. A member of the team will come back to them asap.

Q) Is attendance needed full time from September?

A) Yes, all sessions are planned to be delivered face to face on campus.

Q) What days do they need to be on campus?

A) Their timetable will be confirmed once we have confirmed the number of students joining each course. Details will be provided during induction.

Q) Is there car parking?

A) Car parking can be applied for on induction day with the security team. The programme leader or a member of the admin team will assist in contacting security on the day.

Q) Can we visit the campus before induction day?

A) You can visit our Brackenhurst campus at an open day where the campus and facilities can be explored as well as a chance to talk to our students and teaching staff.

Q) How can they use the campus bus?

A) A link will be issued to their student email address, which will take them to a booking page to reserve a place. There is a £300 charge for the full year (£100 per term). Full timetable details will be available on the booking page.

Q) How can we get an NCT travel card?

A) Once they get their NTU ID card at induction, you can take it to the NCT office near Old Market Square, in Nottingham (NCT Travel Centre, 5 South Parade, NG1 2JS). NCT will be able to add travel to their NTU ID card for the annual subscription fee.

Q) Is accommodation available?

A) Unfortunately accommodation for Further Education students is no longer available at Brackenhurst.

Q) Is there any student support available on campus?

A) We have student support on site. If your enquiry is related to Student Support, please contact fe.support@ntu.ac.uk

Q) Is there any financial support available?

A) We have several bursaries which are available for eligible students, details of these bursaries will be emailed to all applicants before they start their course.

Q) What career support is available?

A) We have a dedicated Employability team on campus who are there to help. From right at the start and up to finishing the course they are available at anytime and even up to 3 years after they graduate.

Q) What is needed before starting the course?

A) Full joining instructions will be sent to the student within 5 working days of them confirming their GCSE results. These will include a list of equipment and clothing, and details of how to start their enrolment.

Enrolment should be done online before the Welcome day if possible.

Q) What happens now?

A) A copy of their GCSE results needs to be sent to the administration office at  fe.enquires@ntu.ac.uk.

We will send joining instructions via email, with details of equipment required for the course and the Welcome day. Also, enrolment should be done online before the Welcome day if possible, again details will be supplied via email.

Q) When are the Welcome / Induction days?

Welcome days are usually during the first week in September.

Please keep an eye out for any communications from the School, where welcome and induction dates will be confirmed in the Summer before they are due to start.

Q) What are the term dates?

A) Term dates will be supplied with joining instructions. The official start of term is usually mid September.

Full term date details for students starting in September, will be confirmed by the School in the Summer before they are due to start.
