More about Charlotte

Why did you choose to study your course at NTU?

I chose to study at NTU due to the range of facilities that were available for my course such as the labs and the Animal Unit. I also liked the sense of community which Brackenhurst Campus has to offer.

What do you enjoy most about your course?

I enjoy the wide range of modules that are taught on Zoology so that it is not so constricted to one career path upon graduation.

How do you find your modules and what have you most enjoyed studying?

My modules provide a range of knowledge when it comes to the world of Zoology. I particularly enjoy that the assignments are so varied from coursework to exams to lab experiments.

What do you think about the facilities available on your course and what do you use the most?

As a zoologist, the labs is where most of the practicals take place, but even this varies from looking at bones from owl pellets to bacteria to pinning bugs for preservation.

What do you think about Brackenhurst Campus? What do you get up to in your spare time?

Brackenhurst Campus offers lots of activities to fill up spare time. During assignment season, I enjoy studying in The Orangery with the scenery out the windows in the background while enjoying a coffee. The campus also offers places to walk when needing a break from studying. I am part of Zoo Society and enjoy going across the UK travelling to different zoos and going behind the scenes and having talks from staff there.

What is your top tip for someone considering studying/ living at Brackenhurst Campus?

When living on campus, doing a group shop with your flat mates is a good way in order to save some money and make sure that you cook good meals every night.

Have you been involved in any placements, work experience or volunteering as part of your course? If so, what did you do and what did you achieve?

Before university, I have undertaken 2 years of volunteering at a zoo and recently I have secured a years placement at Woburn Safari Park.

Why would you recommend your course to someone considering studying it?

The lecturers are all passionate about what they teach so it makes the content a lot more enjoyable. With such a broad span of the zoology spectrum, it leads you on to several career paths.

What are your plans for after the course and how do you feel your course has/ will help you to achieve that goal?

After the course, I hope to work within the zoo industry. However, towards the end of my career, I would like to move into the conservation industry.
