More about Hafsah
“I chose this course because Horticulture itself was an area I was very passionate about. Combined with the perfect location of the Brackenhurst Campus and the excellent facilities provided such as the greenhouses, machinery and the vast variety of plant life around the campus, NTU was the ideal place for me to study.
“The FdSc Horticulture course is very broad and involves many different aspects of Horticulture. In first year we are already covering many aspects from plant botany to surveying and construction. This makes the course perfect as it enables me to have a variety of career paths to explore for the future and has provided me with an excellent skill set. I already feel like I have so many possible careers to choose from and it’s only my first year!
“I particularly enjoy the Garden Design module as I love the ability to get creative, get stuck in and work with your own personal style and preferences. Another module I also enjoy is Survey Planning and Construction. In this module we survey sites and then use AutoCAD to illustrate the information. I love the practical aspect of this module – working on and around sites on campus measuring and collecting data. Also, I had personally always wanted to learn how to use AutoCAD as it’s an amazing skill and can be used in so many different ways.
“It is a fantastic course with great career prospects and the beautiful campus is an excellent environment to study and learn in. Being a student here is great! Everyone is a familiar face, the students and staff are all approachable and supportive.
“At the moment I am looking to go into the design aspect of Horticulture. I am particularly passionate about the idea of bringing green spaces into urban areas for health and environmental benefits. Everything I have learnt on this course is transferable and is all applicable to potential careers.“
