More about Reka

Why did you choose to study your course at NTU?

Before starting my degree apprenticeship, I already had the privilege of completing the Level 3 Food Technologist Advanced Apprenticeship at NTU as part of their FE courses. From the very beginning I heard overwhelmingly positive feedback about NTU, and they have always delivered in the last 3 years without fail.

What do you enjoy most about your course?

I would say probably the fact that all academic knowledge gained along the way can be almost instantly implemented into a skill. I find I learn best through doing it, so for me it’s a win!

How do you find your modules and what have you most enjoyed studying?

The modules are engaging on both an academic and practical level too. I find that learning from lecturers who have already worked in the industry in one way or another, takes the learning experience to the next level. It is much easier to relate to one another.

What do you think about Brackenhurst Campus? What do you get up to in your spare time?

I think Brackenhurst Campus is beautiful and unique, it is located in the beautiful countryside, and it has everything one might need while on campus. When the weather is nice, we go for a walk around the campus but most days we reward ourselves with a tea or coffee break and get to know each other better.

What is your top tip for someone considering studying/living at Brackenhurst Campus?

I don’t reside on campus, but I do recommend you get a great pair or wellies and a decent raincoat... it’s a must! When it comes to studying, I can only recommend it.

Why would you recommend your course to someone considering studying it?

As a “foodie” apprentice, I think I will tell no secret when I say that I am very passionate about food! Whether it’s the agricultural or horticultural end or the processing and manufacturing side, I just love it. If you have a passion for food manufacturing, development and innovation then unarguably this course is for you. It’s a hands-on learning experience which includes learning from some great professionals from the industry along the way.

Any additional comments:

I feel like Brackenhurst has shaped me and continues to do so in ways I never imagined. I think everybody should experience what student/apprentice life is on the campus. I have always felt equal, included and cared for. Go Brackenhurst!
