More about Alfie

What made you choose to study at NTU?
“NTU offered the perfect course for me. Compared to the few other universities that run a similar course, NTU offered an incomparable level of industry work experience opportunities. Also, many previous graduates are now working in the film and TV industry in their dream jobs.”

Have your course included any guest lectures?
“We have had a number of top-level industry professionals visit to speak to us, including Donal Woods, Chris Seagers and Christopher Wyatt. They all have jobs that we hope to have one day, so it’s great to hear first-hand how they did it and how we can do it too.”

Have you been on any trips as part of your course?
“So far we have been lucky enough to visit two studios. The ITV Emmerdale studio and most recently Pinewood studios. Both of these trips were hugely beneficial and informative as we got to see live sets and facilities in action. We also met previous students of the course who are now working in industry.”

Have you completed any work placements?
“I have been on three work experience placements so far and have another lined up for later this year. In my opinion placements are one of the best aspects of the course. It gives you the opportunity to work alongside industry professionals and gain valuable insight into what to expect after university. I gained experience creating props, dressing sets, undertaking research, and performing runner duties.”

Why would you recommend studying Design for Film and Television at NTU?
“I would recommend coming to NTU to study BA (Hons) Design for Film and Television because of the variety of skills you will learn. Your lectures and tutorials will cover all of the key skills that you will need to work in industry, such as model making, hand drafting, and concept visuals. NTU work really hard to help their students gain recognition in the industry through work experience which is a great way to build industry connections.”
