What made you choose to study at NTU?
“My sister studied at Nottingham Trent University and this encouraged me to take a real interest in the city. I attended an open day and visited the facilities the knitwear course had to offer. It was then that I knew it was going to be the right course for me.”

What do you enjoy most about your course?
“I love the design process all the way through to completion of a knitted garment, I have found it a very rewarding course. The course also offers the invaluable opportunity to spend a year working in industry.”

How did it feel to be awarded funds from the Worshipful Company of Framework Knitters?
“It was an incredible honour to be chosen for their highest award. It has made the past three years of working hard worthwhile.”

What is the most valuable thing you have learnt from studying BA (Hons) Fashion Knitwear Design and Knitted Textiles?
“The techniques required for knitting and constructing knitted garments are taught to a very high standard. This knowledge is very valuable when working in industry.”

Has the course included any speakers or lecturers from industry?
“We have had the opportunity to undertake numerous live projects set by industry from companies including AllSaints and John Lewis.”

How do you find the facilities available to you?
“The quality of the studios and workshops is good and everything is available to purchase at the University shop. I chose NTU not just for the course but also for all of the other facilities available.”

Why would you recommend your course to someone looking to study in that area?
“Knitwear is such a specialised subject, and what I have learnt and valued from my placement year is how great it is to study something so specific. On this course you learn all aspects of knitwear design and I couldn’t recommend it enough to anyone who is interested in exploring knitwear design.”
