More about Amber

Why did you choose NTU and your course?

The reason why I chose NTU is because of the course. It really resonates with what I am looking for. NTU popped up as one of my backup options actually (awkward laughing), but after reading the course modules and seeing others experiences with NTU, I was so happy that I decided to choose NTU.

What’s your favourite thing about your course?

I would say my professor, haha! She is fabulous and lovely. She prepared us not only for the course, but also for our future lives.

How have you found the course facilities?

Actually, the course was recommended to me by a third party (consultancy).

Have you worked on any live briefs or competitions?

Actually, we did this quite a lot during our course and across different modules.

Has your course included any guest speakers or industry trips? What have you enjoyed about this?

Yes, for our course, not only we had different guest speakers, but also we took multiple trips to have hands-on experience. I really like the trips because not only I can hang out with my course friends, but also I can learn new things while having fun!

When I’m not studying…

I usually go to cafes or just walk around Nottingham to explore! If not, I will take some time to take a short trip to another city in the UK.

What three words would you use to describe Nottingham?

Calm, self-developing, a little bit boring (maybe just for me hehe)

What do you think of the creative and cultural scene in Nottingham?

I have to say that Nottingham is a very supportive city for art and local artists. I can see lots of zines and brochures from small local artists around many cafes and even on our school campus as well.

Where would you recommend visiting in Nottingham?

This is hard since I have not been sightseeing much in Nottingham, so maybe some food recommendations then? For matcha, I really like vibewith (authentic matcha, very small local shop), and for food, I really like Zaap for Thai cuisine and Shobu for a hearty bowl of ramen.

If you could give new students some advice, what would it be?

Just enjoy your time in Nottingham and in the UK. Good time management, because sometimes deadlines can be hectic! Make tons of new friends and travel around as well!

What do you think of the course staff?

Super helpful, super friendly! Best team ever! I can reach out to them to ask for any support and they will be very glad to answer or help!

Have you used any of the student support services or NTU’s Employabiliy team?

Actually I have not, but we do have some sessions in class with them for career preparation and I think those seminars/ sessions were very helpful and very interactive with hands-on practice for resume building and interview preparation.

About the future...

What’s next for you after NTU?

I am in the job-searching phase right now, trying to get my dream job.

Has the employability team helped you plan for life beyond NTU?

They did help us by having multiple tools for job searching and interview planning ( all available on NTU website).

Why did you want to study in the UK?

Since I wanted to study fashion and luxury fashion, I decided to choose the UK because of the rich history of fashion and arts.

How is NTU for international students?

Very very international student friendly! Right in the heart of Nottingham so you can enjoy the best of Nottingham while being on campus
