More about Hinako
Hinako was studying at Musashino Art University (MAU) in Japan. She applied for the Paul Smith scholarship to come and study Fashion Marketing and Communication at NTU.
"I am inspired by the people I have met during my time here. When I was studying in Japan most of the students were of a similar age. At NTU almost everyone is older than me and they come from different backgrounds. I don't have any professional work experience as I came here when I graduated from MAU, so it’s been really valuable to be able to learn from experienced people.
"I found it challenging to write my Learning Agreement at the start of term because in Japan we weren't asked to write a lot, but this really helped me focus on my research. It also helped me set up my objectives and be clear about what I wanted to achieve.
"NTU has lots of connections with other organisations, and there are lots of different events held at the University too. It’s really important to get involved with these.
"I would like to be a designer / artist and work in the field of fashion communication, designing space. I am thinking of staying in London after I graduate."
