More about Hollie
As part of the course, Hollie took part in a live project run in collaboration with Next. The brief was to design a collection of knitted swatches for their autumn / winter casual menswear range. Hollie was selected as the winner and received a month's work placement at Next's Head Office. During the placement Hollie designed a lambswool jumper which was developed into a garment, and chosen for Next's winter collection.
"I wanted to get out of London and be independent in a new city. I chose NTU because I knew it was the best place to study fashion knitwear design.
"I enjoy the practical side of the course the most, as I enjoy knitting. I'm always knitting and working on my sketchbook. I also love having the opportunity to engage in live projects with industry.
"The course engages us with live projects so we often have people from industry coming in to brief us, and returning for tutorials to discuss our work. We've had projects running with Next, Acorn Conceptual Textiles, Abercrombie & Fitch, and Li & Fung.
"I feel really supported on the course, and lecturers and tutors are very helpful and push us to do our best and improve our work. We have regular contact time with them in tutorials, demonstrations, lectures and seminars, and are happy to meet out of timetabled hours for a chat if we need it."
