Can you tell us about your Masters project?
“Before I came to NTU, I had several years of work experience in the luxury fashion industry. During this time, I found my knowledge within the industry was insufficient, so I decided to further my study to enrich myself. During my time in NTU, I gained more industry knowledge and was able to apply it through live projects arranged by the School.”

What do you enjoy most about your course at NTU?
“At NTU, we have convenient access to advanced software and hardware, which is great for us fashion students. The library also provides us with a wealth of high-quality resources that are conducive to learning.”

What made you choose to study at NTU?
“I chose NTU mainly because of its reputation within the fashion industry. The excellent teaching staff was also another important reason why I chose NTU.”

How do you find the course staff?
“The staff are really supportive – we can contact them by email and other means, at any time.”

As an international student, what do you like about studying and living in Nottingham?
“Nottingham is a quiet and comfortable city where people are friendly and warm. It is known for its lace and is home to Paul Smith, so understanding Nottingham is also about learning its history in fashion.”

Have you been on any study trips?  
“Yes, I went on the Paris and Antwerp course trip. We visited famous retail stores in Paris, learned about the history of luxury goods and experienced the locals’ attitude towards fashion. We also attended the global premier fabric show, Première Vision. During this visit, we gained a deeper understanding of the development of fashion trends and fabrics. In Antwerp, under the guidance of local fashion professionals, we visited the famous local museum of modern art and famous local fashion retail stores, which was inspiring.”

Why would you recommend your course to someone thinking of studying it?
“NTU has the best teachers, and the curriculum is both creative and practical. I’d highly recommend studying at NTU.”

How do you think the course, and having a postgraduate qualification, will help you to progress your career?
“Graduate students are expected to have a deeper and more mature way of thinking, with a good understanding of their related industries. I believe that the achievements I accomplish during my postgraduate study will help me develop my future career.”

How did you find out about the scholarship, and how has it helped you?
“After applying to NTU, I followed all of the University’s social media channels. I learned about NTU’s many scholarship programmes through Weibo, a social media platform in China. Thankfully, I managed to secure the GREAT China Scholarship, offered by the British Council. The scholarship not only reduced my financial pressure, it also encouraged me to study.”
