More about Lydia
“I chose to study at NTU as it is one of the few universities in the country that provides a set design course specifically catering for film and television. I was really impressed by the course, and I felt that it stood out from other university equivalents.
“I really enjoy the variety of projects that we receive; each term is completely different and each project allows you to develop new skills.
“We have many industry guests who come in to speak to us. Our most recent visitors was four-time Oscar nominee and BAFTA winner, Production Designer Sarah Greenwood. Sarah’s visit was particularly exciting as I am a huge fan of her work. I have really enjoyed all the guest speakers, and their talks are always really informative and inspiring.
“All the staff are fantastic, and they all individually bring something different to the course that makes the students’ experience really rich. Since the year groups are quite small, the atmosphere on the course is very friendly and intimate, allowing you to have a good relationships with your tutors.
“The studios are a great space to work in, providing a nice art department atmosphere. The University’s facilities are superb, with the City site being so compact it means that nothing is ever far away.
“I love living in Nottingham. Its centralised location has made it easy for me to travel to work placements in London, but also to travel home to the north of England. Nottingham is a perfect place to study as an undergraduate, with lots of great places to socialise and a good arts scene.
“I would recommend this course to anyone who is aspiring to work in an art department for film and television. The course gives you the skills and the opportunity to make contacts whilst you study, provide you with a great setup for when you graduate.”
