I never thought I would get this many opportunities from the Textile Design course.

More about Lynn

Lynn graduated from our BA (Hons) Textile Design course in 2014. During her final year Lynn took part in a brief for American fashion company ANN INC. and was selected for a six month internship which she'll undertake in New York from September 2014.

What made you choose to study Textile Design at NTU?
"I chose to study Textile Design at NTU because of the reputation of the course, and I found it provided the best facilities in each specialist area.

"Attending the open day gave me an insight into the workshops, the specialisms, an opportunity to meet both the tutors and students on the course and the overall atmosphere of where I would be studying. After visiting a lot of other universities I definitely got the most positive and friendly vibe from everyone I spoke to here, and that was the influencing factor."

What do you enjoy most about the course?
"I enjoy having creative freedom and being constantly provided with knowledge and inspiration to design for different markets and applications. I never thought I would get this many opportunities from the course."

Can you tell us about some of the live projects you've taken part in?
"During Year Two we took part in live projects set by industry companies and I chose a brief from Fraas The Scarf Company. It was amazing having the opportunity to collaborate in a group with other students specialising in embroidery, print and weave and creating a mixed collection. Our group successfully sold designs to the company and my work was highly commended with a six month placement opportunity."

Have you completed any work placements during the course?
"I've recently completed a placement at Burberry head office in London. It was great being able to see the design process in such a high-end brand and learning about the different job roles that Textile Design can take you in. It was also inspiring to see some NTU Textile Design alumni working there.

"I also completed two further placements in London, interning for a milliner which took me to London Olympics corporate events for Visa and helping a designer before London Fashion Week."

Would you recommend this course?
"I would definitely recommend this course for Textile Design as the skills, opportunities and support provided here at NTU have been incredible during my degree."
