What made you choose to study at NTU?
“When I was applying to university, the Design for Film and Television course was one of very few that was specific to designing for film and television. I was also fascinated by the work experience opportunities and the range of subjects covered within the course.”

What do you enjoy most about the course?
“The tutors are very easy to approach and willing to help. I also enjoy the wide variation of subjects taught from technical drawing to concept art, and how small the classes are; making it feel like you’re working in an actual art department.”

Has the course included any guest speakers?
“We have many guest speakers come in from the industry. My favourite was production designer Sarah Greenwood. It was interesting to hear about her experience of working in the industry and how she started out. It was also great to see examples of past and current films she had worked on.”

What do you like about studying and living in Nottingham?
“I like the atmosphere studying at NTU offers; it always feels safe and friendly - as does living in Nottingham as a whole. There is always something to do and the transport links are great.”

Has the course provided you with any work placement opportunities?
“I have completed three work placements since beginning the course. These include working on Hollyoaks, DCI Banks and more recently ITV’s Victoria. Each of these opportunities offered varying experiences in set dressing, graphics and prop making.”

Where do you hope to be in five years’ time?
“I hope to be working in the industry as either as concept artist or as an assistant art director.”
