More about Taksh

What made you choose to study at NTU?
"I didn't plan on studying abroad however after attending a meet and greet with my friend in Mumbai, I decided to join NTU. After speaking with the representatives I was impressed with the course and everything Nottingham had to offer."

What do you enjoy most about your course?
"I enjoy the variety. The modules taught to us range from Design and Visual Communication to Product Technology which will help to prepare us for the various roles we might go into. I'm passionate about learning new things and this course teaches you something new everyday."

Has the course included any live projects or competitions?
"Last year we were involved in a competition that required us to undertake extensive market research on consumer behaviour and designed a store window display for John Lewis. We didn't win but it was a great learning experience."

Has the course included any guest lecturers?
"Mark Harrop from Which PLM gave us an amazing presentation about how the fashion industry is going to change in next 5-10 years. He really caught my attention when discussing how technology will impact the entire channel of distribution in the fashion industry. He covered topics such as 3D imaging and simulations for designing to virtual and augmented reality for retail."

What do you think about the course staff?
"Firstly, they are very friendly, and secondly they are easy to contact. It doesn't matter what your query is, they will ensure that it is solved without any hassle. All of my tutors knew me by name which is great."

As an international student, what do you like about living and studying in Nottingham?
"Coming to Nottingham has been the best decision I have ever made. It's a small city compared to London, but this is what I love about it; everything is within walking distance. It’s filled with students and I enjoy the social life with the friends I’ve made from around the globe. I have never felt homesick after coming here, I found a new family amongst my friends. Nottingham is like my home away from home."

Can you tell us a little bit about your exchange experience?
"I had the opportunity to spend four months studying at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, where I gained first-hand experience working at New York Fashion Week. I met people from all over the world and made some great connections. The whole experience taught me to not be afraid of starting a conversation with people you don't know. You never know, you could become great friends. I found it hard at first but the Marc Jacobs S/S 18 show was a turning point for me, it taught me to stand out and start a conversation."

What was the most valuable lesson you learnt whilst on your exchange?
“Talk to people. Socialise. Don’t be afraid of starting a conversation with people you don’t know. You never know, you could become great friends.”
