“I chose to study at NTU because of the Theatre Design course. The tutors are incredible and full of enthusiasm and experience to share. Not many universities have such a course, and this one is by far the best!

“I most enjoy the variety of the course, it involves a broad spectrum of skills and projects meaning each individual has the opportunity to work in more specialised areas of practice. This has been extremely helpful for myself, as I would like to focus on costume design and making.

“Before starting second year I was chosen to take part in a placement with Dragon Breath Theatre at Lakeside Arts Centre, Nottingham. My role was the Design Assistant on the production Jumping on my Shadow. The opportunity was made known to us via Peter, a lecturer and producer at Dragon Breath, and I decided to apply. The placement involved a wide range of opportunities, including costume making, costume and prop sourcing, scenic art and involvement in workshops with schools.

“The course benefits from an incredible team of staff and an amazing support system. The lecturers have a world of knowledge and experience to share. Equally, the support staff around the Waverley building are always happy to help.

“Our amazing studio space is available across all three years. It’s been very helpful so far, giving me opportunities to gain knowledge and advice from other students from other year groups.”
