Since graduating from NTU, Patrycja now produces multimedia material for the BBC while championing diversity and inclusion.

Studying in the UK

I’m originally from Poland and came to Norfolk when I was 10 without knowing any English. I did my GCSEs and A levels here in the UK, and then studied my BA in Broadcast Journalism and MA in Documentary Journalism at NTU, not knowing I had ADHD at the time. Now I work for the BBC – so it just goes to show that having ADHD doesn’t need to mean that you can’t do well or succeed.

Working at the BBC

I’ve produced a series for BBC Sounds about ADHD called That ADHD Story. I’m now working as a Digital Audio Producer creating series and longform content for BBC Sounds at BBC Radio Lincolnshire, while championing diversity and inclusion at our station. I do this by sending out monthly tips and thoughts on how to be more inclusive within the office and with one another, and produce diverse content and shows that reflect our communities that we are working in.

I also made a radio documentary called ‘From Uganda to Northamptonshire – 50 years on’. I’m currently working on a podcast episode about the first ever openly transgender woman in the RAF and doing other BBC Sounds digital audio series.

I also produce multimedia material for BBC Radio Lincolnshire and recently did a mental health hay bale sofa to speak to farmers about mental health as part of the Farmwatch campaign.
