What made you choose to study at NTU?  

“I think the course is what appealed to me the most. Having the opportunity to get involved in so many career building initiatives and the chance to study/work abroad was definitely what made my decision final.”

What were the key features that attracted you to your course?

“Definitely the placement year and having the chance to develop my foreign language skills. I have always wanted to experience studying and living in a different country and I never thought I would have the opportunity to go to both Peru & Valencia!”

What do you enjoy most about your course?

“There are constantly opportunities for you to enhance your personal and professional development and the support you receive from your peers is incredible.”

What do you think about the course staff – include lecturers, tutors, administrators and technical staff within this. How do they support your learning and University experience?

“Everyone is extremely supportive from the beginning to the end of the course and if you ever have any issues you are assigned a personal tutor you can express your concerns to. You also receive career advice throughout, which has been extremely helpful as I was completely unaware of my career path before starting university.”

What do you like about studying and living in Nottingham?

“There’s something for everyone! It’s a small city with a lot of culture and has a great buzz for student life. The student community brings everyone together whether it’s through a sport, social or academic interest.”

Why would you recommend your course / NTU to someone looking to study in that area?

“It can open a vast amount of possibilities for you in the future. During your time at NTU you will gain skills that will broaden your international perspectives and enhance your interpersonal competencies to improve your employability.”

What work experience/placement have you completed? – Where you went and what you did?

“I chose to study abroad in a Spanish speaking country to develop my foreign language skills, so I spent one semester in Peru and the other in Valencia.”

How will your course and/or placement enhance your employability for your chosen career? What skills have you gained?

“I have gained some valuable skills which have made me a confident team worker and leader within an international environment. My course has enhanced my intercultural awareness, tolerance and interpersonal communication skills. Skills essential in today’s workplace.”

What are your plans for the future?

“After spending 6 months in Peru it really opened my eyes into the vast Sustainability issues contributing to the countries environmental degradation and social and economic issues. For this reason, I would love to work for the UN Global Compact helping build a more sustainable world."

What opportunities have you had as a result of studying with NBS? How have these activities contributed to your university experience?

“I have been a CERT Mentor, Language Support Mentor, Volunteer for Poverty Alleviation, Oath Project Leader, member of the BAIB Society. Each role has helped me grow as an individual and increased my self-awareness and confidence allowing me to identify my strengths and weaknesses which I can then carry on to my personal and professional life. Most importantly, I have built a great rapport with professionals and made life-long friends.”
