More about Stephanie
As I am new to marketing having come from a history background I liked the practical elements of MSc Marketing, including creative coursework and the opportunity to do a year work placement. I liked the style of having three weeks of intensive teaching then having a week to do a the associated coursework. Focusing on one Module at a time is highly helpful. I also know the high reputation the business school has.
As I am local to Nottingham I have been aware of the Business School for many years. I knew that the facilities were all relatively new and of a high quality such as the Student Union and Boots library. I was also attracted to Nottingham Business School being located in the city centre.
The degree
I was attracted to the range of modules that were offered on this degree compared to others that I had looked at. The Academic, Professional and Career Development module in particular was of interest to me as it is geared towards improving both your professional and academic skills. The option of undertaking a 3 month work placement was also a very attractive feature of the degree as it would further help improve my professional skills and employability prospects.
The business school stood out to me because the lecturers have real experience in the marketing world which made me feel confident in the school and my degree. A degree with an accreditation was also important to me as I wanted to expand my opportunities for the future and with the CIM accreditation, I knew I could do this.
The facilities
The facilities at Nottingham Trent University are all great and easily accessible. The Newton building is a good space to learn in – it’s close to the city centre. The library has 24 hour access which is ideal for me as I have a part time job which means I can juggle my work load effectively. I use NOW on a daily basis as it has all my lecture slides stored on it as well as my timetable.
Careers plans
Since studying at Nottingham Business School I have developed a better understanding of possible career plans. I now know that I want to pursue a career in B2C marketing. My degree has helped me to gain more confidence and develop better public speaking skills which will help in this career goal. The employability team here at NTU have also assisted me in improving my CV.
