There's no judgement from the Employability team

As a third-year Business Management and Marketing student, I remember the confusion I was facing during my second year when deciding if I should jump straight into my final year or get a placement.

Having decided during my winter break that pursuing a placement would help me narrow down my career path, I instantly began to update my CV. I remember looking at my CV and feeling embarrassed that I would have to go to a member of the employability team and share this with them as it was honestly just shambles. I decided to explore the Employability website which was recommended by my tutor and discovered the online resource available for CV guidance.

Here I discovered the magnitude of resources available to help cure me of my CV embarrassment. After some tweaks I knew I was ready to get my CV reviewed virtually by a member of the Employability team!

I had a great one-to-one drop-in; I was given some recommendations on how to improve my CV and remember an advisor telling me that the Employability Team is always here to help and to come back anytime I have a question or need help with a placement application- Little did they know I would be returning every day with a new CV and cover letter for another placement opportunity.

Shout out to Employability advisor Seth (and his cat) for showing me how friendly, positive, and non-judgemental the Employability team is!

After many failed initial applications stages I finally secured some interviews and decided it was time for another drop-in for interview prep and successfully landed a placement as a Marketing Assistant!
