More about Angelina

Why did you choose NTU and Nottingham Law School?

I chose NLS because of the variety of courses offered. I was initially interested in studying International Law, and NTU was one of the few universities that offered it at undergraduate level.

Moreover, since I had already moved countries and cities to come to England, I wanted to find a university where I could settle for the long term. What stood out to me about NTU was that it not only offered strong undergraduate options, but also a clear path into postgraduate study, meaning I wouldn’t need to relocate again to continue my education. Even though I wasn’t sure what career path I wanted to follow at the time, I felt confident that NTU would give me the flexibility to explore different options while staying in one place, thanks to the variety of programmes available at NLS.

What do you enjoy about your course?

One of the things I enjoy most about my course is the variety of assessment types. From coursework and presentations to mooting and practical assignments, each module assesses our understanding in a way that suits the content being taught. It keeps the course engaging and allows us to develop a range of academic and professional skills.

I also appreciate how many of the modules incorporate external concepts that help us build transferable skills we’ll need in our future careers. Everything feels connected, as the skills we develop in one module often support what we’re doing in another. This integrated approach not only makes us more employable but also gives us meaningful experiences to draw on during job applications and interviews.

How would you promote NTU to potential students in 10 words or fewer?

Supportive, career-focused law education with real-world opportunities.

If you have a (non-academic) problem, who would you talk to? What would you do?

If I had a non-academic problem, I would speak to either my personal tutor or my student mentor. Both are great sources of support, and who I go to might depend on the nature of the issue and the relationship I have with them. They can also signpost to other services or staff members who are better placed to help in specific situations, which is really useful when one is not sure what support is available.

Alternatively, I wouldn’t hesitate to speak to other staff or students, because everyone at NTU is approachable and always willing to offer advice or support.

What do you think Nottingham Law School has given you above and beyond a qualification?

Nottingham Law School has given me much more than just a qualification, it’s provided consistent support and allowed me to grow into the person I am today. Through the opportunities I've had, both inside and outside the classroom, I’ve developed confidence, resilience, and a clearer sense of who I am and what I want to do. It’s helped me build not only my skills but also my identity.
