When I first heard about the course, I was particularly attracted to the hands on lab sessions, the support from personal tutors and the relevance of the course to industry.

I’ve learned many skills as a result of this course that will help me in the future including penetration testing, digital investigations and research methods. I’ve had the opportunity to use virtual machines as an investigation tool to simulate scenarios and reverse-engineer attacks which has really helped me to harness these skills.

Academic staff have been very helpful; support for challenges outside lectures is readily available with quick responses to emails and open-door policies.

I completed a placement at the University of Nottingham’s school of computer science where I worked as a Software Intern for a period of nine months. Travelling for business meetings both within and outside Nottingham gave me exposure that I wouldn’t have been able to gain inside a classroom.

I’ve had the opportunity to serve as a Collaborative Engagement Retentive Team Mentor, Student Ambassador, STEM Ambassador, and Class Assistant which has enabled me to meet people from different walks of life.

My career plans are to start my own business as a security consultant once I have completed postgraduate study and I feel that my time at NTU has put me on the right path to achieve this.
