More about Justine

Why NTU?

Why did you choose to study a postgraduate degree in International Law Enforcement?

"I chose to study a postgraduate degree because I wanted to expand my knowledge in a more precise field than I studied during my undergraduate degree. Due to difficulties that I faced during my undergraduate degree that resulted in me finishing with a grade that I was not particularly content with, I did not want to let this stop me from continuing my education. Instead, I opted to go back to do a postgraduate degree and improve my chances of going into a career that I wish to do."

Why did you choose your course and NTU?

"I chose to do my postgraduate course at NTU as I completed my undergraduate degree there and knew that I would love to continue my education at a university that I loved. I also knew that I wanted to study International Law Enforcement and after reading what I would be studying during this course at NTU it was a no brainer!"

What’s your experience been like of your course so far?

"I have enjoyed every moment of my course so far. The class consists of six of us and this has made us all really close with one another. We are all from different backgrounds and nationalities and this really aids our discussions during lessons as we all have differing knowledge that benefits us all to hear about. The course lecturers have all been really engaging and helpful and deliver the content in the most interesting ways."

What does social sciences mean to you?

"In my view, Social Sciences means studying the society that we live in. I have been able to analyse our society whilst studying the modules that have been taught by understanding why many things occur. Studying a social science will aid me to work with people in the future and help those in need."

Support

What do you think of the support available from tutors and staff at NTU?

"The support that I have received from the tutors and course leaders on my course has been exceptional. They have always been understanding and offered extra support where needed. They have also made it clear to reach out and ask for support."

Outside the Lecture Theatre

Did you find it easy to make friends and settle in at NTU?

"Due to the small class that I am in, it has been easy to make friends and we often do activities outside of lessons. I have found it easy to settle in as I was familiar with NTU from studying my undergraduate degree there. The student union often organised events and there has recently been an Instagram page created which organised regular meet ups with other postgraduate students so there are many opportunities available to make friends."

The Next Steps

What’s next for you after NTU?

"Upon completion of my postgraduate degree, the goal is to travel the world! Once this is over the next goal is to apply for jobs in the detective field as this appealed to my interests during my course. It was not something I had ever considered until speaking to one of the course tutors who introduced me to this idea and with a lot of research, it has really stuck with me."

How is NTU helping you to achieve your career goals?

"NTU is helping me achieve my career goals as the tutors are really helpful in guiding me in the right direction. NTU also organised many career fairs throughout the year which I find really helpful as you can go for free and ask as many questions to as many employers as you wish."

Has the employability team helped you plan for life beyond NTU as a postgraduate student?
