Nottingham Trent University’s Clifton Campus is home to the schools of Arts and Humanities, Science and Technology, and Nottingham Institute of Education.
I chose to come to NTU because I'd heard about the facilities here – second to none, with staff to match!

Following a multi-million pound investment programme, the new and improved Clifton is looking better than ever. We’ve developed a cutting-edge Campus, with your own needs in mind – it’s the perfect blend of peaceful spaces, and big ideas. We’ve recently added the Pavilion, a state-of-the-art sports centre, new and improved accommodation, and a number of high-spec laboratories. We’ve also invested over £5m in the Clifton Library, and refurbished The Point – Clifton’s social hub, and the home of the Students’ Union.
You’ll have the best of both worlds here – living and learning on a self-contained Campus, which is only four miles from the bustling heart of Nottingham. You’ll always be a part of the larger NTU community, but you’ll have a place to call your own.
Today, over 8,000 NTU students are based at Clifton.
During term time, the award-winning Go2Uni 4 bus service runs door-to-door routes, every eight minutes. Nottingham’s excellent tram service has been extended into Clifton too, giving you a direct link to the train station. It’s also opened up some of the city’s hidden treasures – there’s shops, pubs and restaurants galore to explore, just beyond Nottingham’s centre.

NTU is one of the UK’s most environmentally friendly universities – the recent upgrades at Clifton demonstrate our ongoing commitment to creating a sustainable, ecologically-sound Campus. It’s a commitment that makes Clifton an eco-friendly place to learn, and an attractive one too. We’re big on green grass and open spaces – in the midst of an essay, there are plenty of places to reconnect with the outside world. So take a breather and gather your thoughts, in our brand new Plaza and Green Zone – they’re peaceful, smoke-free, and Wi-Fi-enabled.
Welcome to the new heart of our Clifton campus. The Pavilion offers two levels of bright and comfy social spaces – from secluded learning pods, to large collaborative booths, and everything in-between. There’s also a Barista-style café, and a brand new Reception area.
The Teaching and Learning building has three lecture theatres, eight teaching rooms, and two seminar rooms. All of these are fitted with the latest audio visual equipment, and the flexibility to change classroom layouts.
In front of the Pavilion, you’ll find the Plaza – a large and scenic space, purpose-built with your needs in mind. With comfortable seating, attractive landscaping and excellent Wi-Fi coverage, your studies needn’t be limited to the library!
Next door to the Pavilion, you’ll find the Refectory. We’ve upgraded the decor, furniture, and lighting – the impressive lantern roof brings in lots of natural daylight, whatever the weather. In addition, we’ve added three new serveries, an eclectic mix of soft seating, three IT study pods, and an outdoor-eating area. It’s an enjoyable and relaxing dining experience, for Clifton staff and students alike.
Living on our Clifton campus? This is one place you’ll get to know well. It’s a pub, diner and club all rolled into one – so whether you’re after a quick beer, a bite to eat or some live sport, the Point’s got you covered. Check out our Nottingham Trent Students’ Union (NTSU) website, to find out more.
Following a multimillion pound refurbishment, our Library’s never looked better. There’s a huge collection of books and journals on offer, plus award-winning customer service, and a diverse range of study spaces. And we’re open until midnight during term-time, whenever the urge to work late strikes!
We’ve invested over £5m in the Clifton Sports Village – whether you’re an amateur enthusiast or an aspiring Olympian, there’s something here for you. In the Lee Westwood Sports Centre, you’ll find sports halls for everything from badminton to cheerleading, state-of-the-art pitches for football, hockey, rugby and cricket, and a large gym and dance studio. On top of all this, we offer workshops, personal training, sports therapy and treatments, and much more. Develop the skills you’ve already got, or try something completely new!
Just behind the Lee Westwood Sports Centre, we’ve just unveiled our brand new clubhouse. This new facility will be used to serve the 3G football pitch, the hockey pitch, tennis courts, and the nearby lacrosse pitch – it’ll provide changing rooms for sports teams and officials, and will include a social area to serve light refreshments during and after matches.
Drop into our Global Lounge to take part in a range of multicultural activities, and find out all about the international opportunities here at NTU. Everyone’s welcome!
