Professional qualifications in learning and teaching

The Academic Professional Apprenticeship (APA) and Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (PGCLTHE) offer colleagues a way to develop their academic practice and gain a Level 7 teaching qualification and Fellowship of Advance HE.

Academic Professional Apprenticeship

People progressing careers

The Academic Professional Apprenticeship (APA) is designed in line with NTU’s University, reimagined strategy and aims to empower every aspect of your academic practice, reach your long-term career goals, while also contributing to NTU’s excellence in learning and teaching.

The APA is a Level 7 Apprenticeship programme designed for colleagues who have fewer than 3 years of teaching experience and do not have Fellowship recognition of Advance HE or a UK teaching qualification. The course offers real opportunity to gain essential skills and knowledge and develop your academic practice.

Nottingham Trent University is the largest provider in the sector for this Apprenticeship and the provider with the highest number of distinctions in the UK.

  • develop leadership approaches in learning and teaching and disseminate innovative and sound practice within your Schools, the wider institution and externally
  • share in and contribute to the learning and teaching community of practice at NTU.
