Disability History Month 2025
UK Disability History Month (DHM) is an annual awareness month that shines a light on the history of the struggle for equality and human rights amongst disabled people.
It brings together communities, organisations, and individuals to recognise the rich history, resilience, and contributions of disabled people across the UK.
This year’s theme looks at all aspects of disabled life and invites us to confront difficult truths, such as the impact of discrimination, inequality, and loss, while uplifting stories of hope, progress, and transformation.
International Day of Persons with Disabilities also sits within Disability History Month on December 3rd. This awareness day is marked by the United Nations and seeks to educate on and advocate for disability rights. NTU will mark this day with the lighting of the Arkwright building in purple.
