Make UK and NDI held the latest in their schedule of ‘Meet The Buyer’ Events at Nottingham Trent University on Wednesday 26 June, with delegates travelling from across the country to attend speed-meetings, with high profile, influencer companies in the defence and security manufacturing sector. Taking place in Pavilion Building on the Clifton Campus, the organisations were able to attend engaging presentations from UK Defence Solutions Centre, Bid Masters and Xel Training, take advantage of networking opportunities and exhibit throughout the day in between the various sessions, driving further connectivity and accessibility between members.

Make UK, formerly EEF, is a membership organisation that exists to help UK manufacturers thrive, innovate and compete, enabling its members to connect, share, solve problems and create opportunities together. NDI is Make UK’s specialist defence and security division, working to build supply chains in the sector by providing intelligence led business development opportunities to its members.

Jonny Crawley, Strategic Partnership Manager for the Engineering and Digitalisation sectors said of the event, and relationship: “Today’s Make UK event provided NTU with further insight to the Nuclear and Defence industries, and an opportunity to share thinking around how NTU can assist the N&D industries - a crucial part of the UK economy’s growth ambitions - and to learn from businesses that help to keep the University relevant and flexible to UK industry talent, skills and innovation needs. NTU is extremely proud of its record of producing graduates that fit UK workforce needs and passionate about creating an environment that supports UK businesses to innovate.”

Ollie Welch, Director of NDI, said that “it was a privilege to be hosted by NTU today, one of the world’s leading engineering universities. Today’s students are destined to be tomorrow’s technologists, tasked with leading the UK to the very front of industry 4.0, enabling the business engagement opportunities nurtured by NDI to its members at today’s event to fully flourish.”

Sharing a mutual ambition to lead innovation and promote growth and performance of the UK’s industry, NTU & Make UK hope to continue to work together to drive the vision.
