Southwell Minster welcomes BBC Young Musician grand finalist Rob Burton

Rob Burton, who won the Woodwind Category Final of BBC Young Musician 2018 and went on to secure a place in the Grand Final, studies classical saxophone at the Royal Academy of Music with renowned saxophonist Huw Wiggin.

The programme champions work by British composer Paul Carr, including a world première of his Concerto for Saxophone, a British première of Ave Verum Corpus, and choral work Stabat Mater. Paul has an extensive catalogue of publications, film scores and recordings to his credit, with a style described by Gramophone as ‘highly accessible and attractive’.

English Pro Musica is Nottinghamshire’s only professional orchestra and is currently in residence at Nottingham Trent University (NTU). The NTU Chamber Choir is an auditioned ensemble which performs and competes internationally, winning a prestigious silver medal at the 2018 World Choir Games in South Africa.
