Jenny joined NLS as a senior lecturer in 1993 following a period in practice and has held a variety of roles within NLS since that time. She has been Deputy Dean since 2012 and has served as the Acting Dean on two occasions.

NLS is one of the UK’s leading providers of academic and professional legal education and part of the award-winning Nottingham Trent University. It has a reputation for excellence in teaching and scholarship and in the design and delivery of innovative courses.

Recently launched programmes include a Higher Rights of Audience summer school, Barristers Training Course, and LLM Barristers Training Course. NLS has also redesigned its undergraduate and postgraduate courses to prepare students for the Solicitors Qualifying Exam.

During her time at NLS, Jenny has been instrumental in the launch and success of its Legal Advice Centre, an award-winning teaching law firm which was the first centre of its kind to become an Alternative Business Structure (ABS) in 2015. In the past five years, students working in the Centre have recovered more than £4 million in compensation for its clients.

Commenting on her appointment, Jenny said: “We are currently in unprecedented times and there are major changes ahead for both legal education and the legal industry. I am proud of the innovative way we teach, research and work with partners here at NLS and I am excited to lead us into the next stage of our growth and success.”

Professor Cillian Ryan, Pro-Vice Chancellor International and Head of the College of Business, Law and Social Sciences at Nottingham Trent University, said: ““We have been impressed by Jenny’s professional expertise, effective leadership and calm assurance in each of her roles to date and are delighted that she has agreed to take on the role of Dean.”
