Nottingham Youth Trends 2020 survey – a call out to everyone aged 11 to 25

Now in its second year running, the survey is open for contributions from young adults across the city and county. Everyone between the ages of 11 to 25 years is invited to take part. This includes NTU staff, students, and their children. The deadline for entries is Thursday 30 April 2020.

Notts Youth Trends 2020

The Nottingham Youth Trends survey is organised by Nonsuch, and this year the Nonsuch team joined forces with Nottingham Trent University (NTU). Dr Frances Howard, who leads the BA (Hons) Youth Studies course and has a wider departmental role for Student Voice and Engagement provided advice and guidance on the survey design, and her students provided essential feedback ahead of it being published. Frances’s students then took the survey out to their placements, encouraging young people to take part and get their voices heard.

Three NTU arts and humanities students, Rebecca, Rei, and Noora have been on placement at Nonsuch creating digital content, supporting the reach and spread of the questionnaire, and creating promotional material.

In 2018, the survey was funded by the City’s Cultural Education Partnership ChalleNGe and focused specifically on finding out more about the creative lives of young people in Nottingham. Its findings provided valuable information for the arts and cultural sector. This latest version has extended its focus and seeks to collect ideas, aspirations, and feedback to make positive changes throughout Nottinghamshire across a range of areas and interests.

The survey will close on 30 April 2020 and initial findings will be shared digitally in May 2020. Nonsuch hopes to organise some open workshops to explore issues once all is back to normal.

The Youth Trends Survey is supported by the NTU Culture Team and Lucy Phillips, the Strategic Partnerships Manager for Culture.
