As part of the MBA’s Strategic Change and Consultancy module students are provided with the theory and tools required to undertake their management consultancy project. Two teams of students worked with Kaefer Limited, an international organisation providing professional plant integrity services and solutions. Addressing key business drivers central to Kaefer’s business future, one team focussed on innovation, and a second examined sustainability. In addition to a written report, students delivered a 30-minute presentation to Kaefer and assessors, followed by a 20-minute Q&A session led by Kaefer.

Julia Kasparek, Marketing and Communication Manager at Kaefer commented:

The NBS MBA challenge was a great opportunity for us to get some contemporary and fresh academic input into the important business topics of innovation and sustainability. We had two project teams that worked really hard, producing results that were thought provoking and challenging. Given the fact that they had just one week to get familiar with the nature of our business and understanding our needs, it was a superb effort. We will take the final reports and use their recommendations to enhance our strategic plans.

Real-world opportunities from external client organisations provide students with valuable experience. Management consultancy projects allow students to apply theory and concepts to enhance their learning experience and strengthen the skills that they can take forward into their future careers.

Full-time MBA student, Diaa A. Roushdy Mohamed reflected on the experience:

It has been an intensive real-life experience of creating value and offering advice to a reputable organisation. It opened up new horizons of strategic thinking and implementation of leadership and emotional intelligence skills. I had the opportunity to experience managing diverse stakeholders in a complex context bounded by a tight timeframe. It equipped me with deep insights about sustainability and responsible business practices where I shall adopt on personal and professional levels.
