NTU Sport Scholars selected for the English Universities Women’s Football Squad camp

Congratulations to NTU Sport Scholars Katie Middleton, Mai Moncaster, and Sophie Tudor for being selected for the English Universities Women’s Football Squad camp.

NTU Scholars

Three of our NTU Women’s Football scholars were recently selected for the English Universities Women’s Football Squad camp. Forward Katie Middleton, midfielder 1st team Vice-Captain Mai Moncaster and midfielder 1st team Captain Sophie Tudor were selected for the three-day camp located in St George’s park, the home and training base of the England National Football Teams, that took place in May.

Daniel Corlett, Head Coach of Women’s Football at NTU commented on the selection of our players:

“It’s a fantastic achievement for Katie, Mai and Sophie to be recognised with selection for this year’s English Universities Women’s Football Squad.  All of them are exceptionally talented players who represent the university outstandingly as scholars both on and off pitch, and this provides a great opportunity and unique experience for them to take away from the end of what has been a challenging year. Everyone in NTU Women’s Football is really proud of them and we know they’ll represent both the club and the university brilliantly this weekend.”

All three scholars found the camp a fulfilling and motivating experience. We caught up with Mai to share her experience of the camp:

“The camp was an amazing experience and one that I am very grateful for. The training was high quality surrounded by experienced players and coaches that pushed us as a team. Being away with the team at St. George’s Park was great and I hope to cross paths with them again soon.”

The camp has helped the players develop their skills in a professional environment. Katie also commented on the camp:

“It was an honour to represent the English Uni Women’s Football Team at St George’s Park, all the girls were so welcoming, professional and it had felt like I’d known them all longer than 3 days. Furthermore, the staff were amazing and delivered high level coaching which I will take with me to keep improving my game.”

Congratulations to Katie, Mai and Sophie for being selected for this amazing opportunity, we cannot wait to see their new skills put to good use on the pitch!
