My work

I made an installation entitled In the Garden of Motherhood inspired by the relationship with my children, particularly during the anxious early days of the pandemic. I wanted to express all of those complicated feelings that motherhood can bring, the joy, the fear, the playfulness. I really love what I have made, it is colourful and fun, yet with meaningful undertones. I handbuilt everything from stoneware in my tiny at home studio, glazed and fired. I love the slow process of ceramics. I recycle everything possible, no clay is thrown away, and I use rainwater from the water butt to make clay slips and clean up with.

My time at NTU

What I have enjoyed most about studying at NTU is meeting so many amazing fellow students and sharing and learning from each other, having experienced technicians and meeting my ceramics tutor Anna Hunt who is just incredible. I was selected for The Nottingham Home Project curated by Line Nielsen and Jonathon Casciani at Primary. This is a project for Meadows Green, defined by Hockley Architects Blueprint. It is essentially a showcase of local artists work within a show home, Mundella House, a 1930’s Art Deco building. Such an innovative idea.

My future

I am continuing to build my small batch ceramics business, find opportunities to show my sculptural work, and attend some in person shows to be able to meet the public.

We are

Makers.
