Representatives from a range of companies and accreditation bodies visited the NTU event to award prizes for academic achievement, course, and project work to students on all six civil and structural engineering courses.

The awards ranged from recognition of outstanding performances across all years of study, to a Women in Civil Engineering award, and prizes for coursework projects in areas including structural engineering, ground engineering, and engineering surveying.

The event was opened by guest speaker Adam Onyett, an NTU alumni, SHEQ & Pre-Construction Director at D Morgan plc and Current Chairman of CECA (North West). Adam reflected on his career journey, his passion for civil engineering and engineering surveying, and the impact of changes and technology throughout his years in industry.

Following the prize giving, students and guests had the chance to speak to the industry representatives, discussing latest developments in the field and get valuable tips and advice for their careers.

Syed Mohyuddin, Head of Civil Engineering at NTU, said: “It was great to welcome our students, accompanying guests and our industry sponsors. The presentation by Adam was informative and engaging.

"I trust we all enjoyed the evening recognising and celebrating the success of our students some of whom have started their career in ‘highly skilled employment’.”

With thanks to all companies who sponsored awards for their continued support: Aarsleff Ground Engineering Ltd, AECOM, Caunton Engineering, Chartered Institute of Civil Engineering (CICES), Curtins, Derbyshire County Council, Inertia Consulting, Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE), J Reddington Ltd, Keltbray Highways Ltd, KOREC Group, PCE Ltd, Plowman Craven Limited, The Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE), VolkerFitzpatrick and Winvic.
