NTU’s School of Social Sciences and our Employability team welcomed hundreds of students to a very special event.

Featuring 8 of our very own alumni – all highly successful professionals in their field – the Festival of Psychology included inspiring talks, networking and valuable career advice from our alumni and local employers.

With topic stations to visit on the day including criminal justice, psychology in education, mental and physical health and business, the event was a great opportunity to learn from the experts.

Motivating work insight talks also took place in our lecture theatres, two of which were from our very own NTU alumni:

Isabelle Gregson a Trainee Educational Psychologist spoke about ‘Your Career with Young People’

Pia Kristensen-Bagguley HR Business Partner at Rolls Royce spoke about ‘Your Career in Business’

Isabelle explained to us why she thought having Alumni at events such as these benefits students. “I feel that having NTU Alumni at events, such as this, allows students to feel like anything is possible with their degree. It demonstrates the range of career paths they can consider with a psychology degree, offers insights into roles and support with next steps after university.”

Another alum who supported the event, Simone Hawley – former Sexual Abuse Hub Worker, spoke to us about why she is motivated to support students. “I found as a mature student who has just graduated and now gone on to do my masters at NTU, the journey I have taken while being a parent can provide others with knowledge and decision-making skills for their own careers”.

Overall students, alumni and employers left the event feeling inspired for the future.
