Mutually beneficial placement experiences pave the way for sustainable talent pipelines: "It’s an amazing place to start a career."

For Adobe, hiring placement students in the UK is a recent venture, but by using on-campus activities to promote their University Programmes, accessing NTU talent has never been easier.

Student looking at careers fair stand map

Sophie Lewis is the University Talent Partner EMEA at Adobe, an organisation committed to “changing the world through digital experiences”,  equipping anyone with the tools “to design and deliver exceptional digital experiences”.

Following the return to in-person events last year, Sophie’s team visited NTU to promote their upcoming intern opportunities to second year students.

The search for Adobe student and graduate talent embraces various platforms, "including our careers site, through RateMyPlacement, Bright Network, 10,000 Black Interns, and directly through certain partner University careers portals."

We are proud to host four NTU students who are on placement with us now until June 2023.

Hopefully our Interns will testify that they've had a great time so far and have learned loads along the way, and we would love to see more success stories like theirs in the future.

So let’s see what the students had to say…

For William Brough, Solutions Consultant intern:

The recruitment process particularly stood out as there was no vastly time consuming tests or robotic Q&As to complete before speaking to someone from the company. It was a great opportunity for myself and other potential employees to get a feel for the culture before starting the role.

In such a competitive landscape, the desire for human interaction and applicants getting a true “feel” for the business during the recruitment process is clear.

Uzair Aftab, Solutions Account Manager, reiterated the impact a positive recruitment process can leave with a candidate.

The communication was thorough and strong throughout the process.”

“The interview team on the panel constructed each section professionally which reduced any delays or technical issues making the whole process efficient and smooth. Enough breaks were provided during the assessment for people to be able to re-charge and go again specifically considering when the day is jam packed, which is useful for students as this might be their first experience of a full assessment day.

Reflecting on the company:

“Adobe is a place where everything is possible and all employees are highly approachable meaning that there are unlimited avenues to expose yourself to different opportunities. For example, I have worked on a project, aside from my day-to-day job which is now used widely across Adobe.”

For Scarlet Birdi, Professional Services Sales intern, learning new skills has been pivotal to her experience:

“These include learning about the processes of sales, how sales are finalised and put into Adobe systems, improving my excel abilities, learning to generate and update reports within excel, learning how to use Adobes' creative cloud products, learning to operate Adobe systems which overlook all their bookings and many more!”

She also notes developments in her:

  • Creativity
  • Confidence
  • Time management.

Considering the impacts that their placement will have on their return to NTU and beyond:

I think a placement is such a great eye opener for what the working word is actually like. This placement has helped me know where to focus my studies when I do return to university.

William Brough - 2023

Most certainly apply for placements as it is a route which will enhance your CV and assurance of you getting a graduate job, even perhaps within the same company. It strengthens your ability to work in corporate sectors and enhances your confidence level in the world of business.

Sustainable talent pipelines...

For Adobe, hiring placement students in the UK is still a fairly recent venture, however with their University Programmes continuing to evolve, and repeat placement positions being filled by NTU talent, we can all agree the value in mutually beneficial work experiences.

It’s an amazing place to start a career.
