Nottingham Law School Law Fair to take place in November 2023

New for the 2023/24 academic year, the Nottingham Trent University (NTU) Employability team are excited to announce that the annual Nottingham Law School Law Fair will take place in Term One.

In relocating the fair, firms can meet NTU’s student and graduate cohorts earlier in their career journeys. Starting the conversation sooner allows time to nurture these connections ahead of recruitment process deadlines in the new year. It will also open the event to firms who have not attended before.

The team are looking forward to welcoming a diverse exhibitor catalogue to the iconic Newton Building on Tuesday 28 November 2023, for networking with industry peers 4:30 pm – 5 pm, followed by the Law Fair from 5 pm – 7:30 pm.

This sector-specific fair connects the brilliantly diverse NLS and wider NTU student population with local, national and global firms of all sizes. This is a key event for organisations looking to promote work experience, industry placement vacancies and graduate opportunities to the next generation of legal talent.

It is also a great opportunity to raise awareness of non-legal roles (e.g. in HR, marketing, technology and operations) amongst students from other disciplines.

At NTU, we believe in success for all and value the time and expertise that employers bring to our students’ development, therefore, there is no charge associated with our recruitment events.

Case study

Paragon Law are a niche immigration law firm based in Hockley, Nottingham City Centre.

Attending the Law Fair across a number of years has been a beneficial way for the firm to engage with diverse NTU talent.

“Students who attended the Law Fair were eager to learn more about our firm and register their interest for available opportunities, which can accelerate the recruitment process. Having a presence in the Law Fair was also an amazing way to speak with students in person and share with them the culture and values of our firm. We were able to connect with students from different years of their Undergraduate degrees as well as Masters’ programmes.” (Thao Nguyen, HR and Operations Executive)

The Law Fair serves as a high-footfall engagement opportunity, for firms to showcase their brand to a critical mass of prospective employees. Last year, over 320 students attended the event. Paragon Law have an established talent pipeline with NLS, as well as wider academic disciplines.

“Our current Case Administrator for the Personal and Family Immigration Team is a placement student from Nottingham Law School. She recently joined in May and has been a great asset for the team. Besides work experience placements, we also recruited a number of NTU graduates, from both legal and non-legal backgrounds. Two of the graduates have now successfully progressed to Senior Caseworker and Solicitor positions.”

Thank you to Thao from Paragon Law for sharing such great insight and this top tip for future exhibitors:

“Prepare marketing materials to attract students to your stand at the fair and be ready to share your experience of working at your firm.”
