Reconnecting with our alumni: Amy Voce
Listen below as Amy remembers how she balanced study with a thriving career in radio, the musical anthems that defined her student days, and opens up about her experiences working alongside broadcasting legends Graham Norton and Chris Evans.
Given Amy’s gift for entertaining the nation on the radio, it made perfect sense to catch up with her in audio form.
Born in Leicester, Amy began her career in radio while still finishing her BA (Hons) in Communication Studies here at NTU, graduating in 2005.
Now a Sony and Radio Academy Gold award-winning broadcaster, Amy presents her own music radio show six days a week on Virgin Radio, sharing the schedule with the likes of Chris Evans and Graham Norton.
Fifteen years before that, Amy made up the award-winning duo ‘Sam and Amy’ on Heart 106, which later became Gem 106. In 2013, the duo won their first prestigious Gold Sony Award for Best Breakfast Show. Two more followed, alongside numerous Arqiva and Aria awards. Amy has also covered shows on BBC Radio 2 and Magic FM.
Amy has her own podcast called 'Two New Mums'. Featuring fellow presenter Jennie Longdon, it covers their journeys from pregnancy, birth, and beyond – with (they say) not a clue between them.
