Alex Hyde is an award-winning photographer with his work winning in the 'Hidden Britain' category in both the 2015 and 2017 British Wildlife Photography Awards.

About his work, Alex Hyde has said: "I first developed an interest in photography as a means of getting closer to the natural world. When composing a scene of an insect or spider through my macro lens, I am always struck with a sense of discovery. To this day I delight in revealing tiny details of subjects that would be missed by the naked eye... Nature provides me with an endless array of fascinating subjects, and I am confident that I will never tire of photographing them."

This exhibition was commissioned as part of the Miner2Major Landscape Partnership scheme, supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. It aims to deliver a range of projects across the Nottinghamshire area, working with partners and engaging with local communities to celebrate its important habitats, special species and rich heritage.

The team at Brackenhurst invites staff and students across the university to come see Hyde’s skilful work. So, whether you are a bug admirer or a photography enthusiast, come see Hyde’s work on display in the Brackenhurst Library and Lyth reception from Thursday 25 January until Wednesday 13 March.
