The project

The 'Bridging the Gap' project prioritizes the enhancement of recreational amenities within a mixed-use building. Observing the spatial constraints noted in  the “Valley” by MVRDV Architects in the Netherlands, there is a recognized need to expand recreational facilities. As a solution, it has been proposed to revitalize the 16th floor of each tower, alongside the construction of a connecting bridge.

The establishment of enhanced recreational spaces not only fosters mental well-being but also cultivates community cohesion, stimulates creativity, promotes healthy lifestyles, and facilitates leisure activities.Through the utilization of parametric architecture and innovative software like Rhino and Grasshopper, the crafted design is not just a physical link but an icon of aspiration and dynamic connectivity within the architectural landscape.

The inspiration about the project

The inspiration behind the bridge design draws from the concept of motion and speed, evoking the imagery of spiral concentric illustrations. Like the spiraling movement towards a central point, the design captures the essence of progress and advancement, symbolizing a dynamic journey between the towers.

Being part of NTU

Himanshi's time at Nottingham Trent University has been incredible. The support from staff, lecturers, and classmates has fostered both educational and personal growth. NTU boasts remarkable facilities, which have greatly facilitated our work and project completion, ensuring timely delivery and offering assistance in overcoming any challenges. Additionally, the educational trip to London orchestrated by the university provided invaluable insights into the practical realities of the architecture and construction industry.

Overall, NTU's excellent facilities, events, workshops, and seminars have enriched my learning experience, culminating in an unforgettable journey.

Closing remarks

Digital architecture and construction represent a burgeoning field, condensed into a comprehensive one-year course at NTU. While it offers a leap forward in career prospects, it's crucial to recognize the rapid evolution of this domain. Proficiency in key software such as Autodesk Revit, Rhinoceros, Grasshopper, Adobe Premiere, Photoshop/InDesign, along with AI tools for efficient workflow management, is essential to align with course requirements and industry demands.
