We're excited to celebrate the launch of this season's University Hall Concert Series, featuring an unforgettable lineup of live performances. These bite-sized, hour-long relaxed performances from NTU Arts showcase top musical talent across global roots and classical music and reflect the diversity of NTU’s community. And if you’re on a budget, don’t worry – you decide what you pay for tickets, making it the perfect opportunity to try something new.
We kick off with a performance from Nottingham-based MUHA, bringing Eastern European folk, North Indian Kathak rhythms, and Cuban beats to University Hall. Get ready for Slavonic-rooted music enhanced with rhythms and global folklore narratives.
Join award-winning pianist Rebeca Omordia and soprano Omo Bello for African Art Song & African Pianism – part of the trailblazing African Concert Series. Rebeca has spent the last decade pioneering repertoire by African classical music writers, unearthing and recording works by some of the continent's influential past and present composers.
Join us on Martin Luther King Jr. Day as we celebrate his life and work through Gospel music. We welcome singers from incredible Voices of the Kingdom, with support from Derby-based Gospel singer Matamando. The programme will feature popular and worship music including songs by Sam Cooke and Marvin Gaye.
As part of Global Week, London-based collective Tangram (researchers, composers and performers of Chinese and Western instruments) will be performing selections from their Nature Echo programme – a powerful reflection on climate change.
As NTU celebrates International Women's Day, we host Tailleferre Ensemble – a UK-based group devoted to promoting women in classical music. Their programme will platform female composers and players, and feature Louise Farrenc's Sextet in C Minor for Woodwind and Piano.
Senegalese kora virtuoso/singer Kadialy Kouyate and his band close the season, performing original music inspired by his West African griot roots. Winner of two Global Music Awards Gold Medals, don't miss this opportunity to hear his hypnotic compositions.
