Nottingham Business School (NBS) is delighted to have welcomed its first Global Executive MBA cohort over the last few weeks. This is a significant milestone and prestigious addition to its existing suite of MBA programmes and executive and leadership-focused programmes—all designed to transform the careers of senior professionals.

This landmark occasion closely follows a recent Triple Crown Accreditation from AMBA, AACSB, and EQUIS achievement, elevating NBS to be amongst the elite 1% of business schools worldwide and highlighting our commitment to the highest international standards.

At a time when real-world experiences and skills are fundamental to career development, our cohort will progress to visit three continents over the two-year programme, shedding new light on the fragmented landscape of international business. The launch of the GEMBA programme will see the implementation of a unique learning format, with our students set to complete 80% of their learning online and 20% on campus. They will have the flexibility to develop a global outlook on business while maintaining their professional commitments as experienced, busy professionals.

Stuart Allan, Course Leader of our Global Executive MBA, speaking on our first GEMBA cohort and their upcoming experiences:

I am delighted to have welcomed our 1st Cohort of GEMBA students to Nottingham for the beginning of their MBA studies with us, a truly International Cohort with students coming together and sharing their knowledge from four different continents. This course is specifically designed to attract students from around the world and provides a flexible online/hybrid learning experience where students can study online at a time and place that fits in with their lifestyles, combined with four residential weeks over the 2-year course. We look forward to welcoming our students back to Nottingham again in May 2025 before we head to South Africa in November 2025 and Brazil in May 2026!

Our Global Executive MBA attracts professionals from around the world.

During their first week in Nottingham, our cohort experienced numerous activities that enhanced their stay - on campus and around the city. They attended Nottingham Trent University events, including an inspiring Business Leaders Lecture with Chris Townsend, before venturing out with their Course Leader to explore key monuments and heritage such as the Nottingham Castle and the City of Caves. Tendai, a member of our GEMBA cohort, had this to say about their first week of visiting Nottingham from Johannesburg, South Africa:

It was an amazing week which began with meeting Stuart, Julie, Charlie and the cohort of diverse individuals. It was evident from the warm welcome and plan for the week that extensive work had gone into developing the GEMBA and structuring the induction. We had been offered introductory discussions with our module leaders that gave us a comprehensive overview of the programme and expectations for the two years. In addition to our in-class learnings, we were privileged to attend a presentation by Chris Townsend, Former Commercial Director, London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) 2012, that gave insights into the commercial aspects of the London 2012 Olympics. This was one of my week's highlights.

The experience was further enriched by a preplanned group dinner, where we interacted in a relaxed setting. On Thursday, Stuart took us to Nottingham Castle, and this was an exhilarating experience, ranking as my best for the week (after the modules!).

I had set criteria when I was looking for an MBA - it had to be a distance global executive programme at a triple accredited business school in a country with a well-established economic system and thriving businesses. It took me three years to find the right one and I was very excited when I was accepted to study the GEMBA at Nottingham Business School.

As our GEMBA cohort prepares to progress through their course, they will receive continued support from lecturers with over a century of experience in teaching and first-hand commercial experience while building worldwide connections through exclusive opportunities, such as collaborating on live consultancy projects and overseas residentials. Nottingham Business School would like to wish our first cohort the best of luck with their endeavours, and we look forward to learning more about the exciting experiences they encounter over the next 2 years.
