Green Rewards
Staff and students are making a big impact through the NTU Green Rewards programme by sharing their green actions and taking part in more sustainable and wellbeing behaviours. Through an easy to use, free app, you can log your actions, take part in monthly challenges and earn points to win prizes.
Over 5,000 staff and students at NTU have taken part in Green Rewards, racking up an impressive 380,000+ sustainability actions which have collectively resulted in nearly 750,000kg of avoided carbon emissions.
NTU Green Rewards is a joint venture between NTU and our students' union, NTSU. Through the platform, NTU staff and students are able to track their positive actions across six key themes ranging from reducing food waste to more sustainable travel options to reducing your personal carbon footprint. Green Rewards is a collaboration between NTU and NTSU.
How it works

- Sign up for free on the NTU Green Rewards platform using your NTU student/staff email.
- Or download the free NTU Green Rewards app in the Apple Store or Google Play Store.
- Begin collecting points straight away by taking part in specific activities such as calculating your carbon footprint or taking a plastic pledge.
- Climb the leader board by taking part in weekly activities such as reporting your recycling or switching things off.
What you can get by joining
Every month a lottery is drawn between the top ten scorers, and two staff and two students win a £10 voucher. Winners can choose to receive their voucher from one of the following:
- EcoVibe
- Local independent shops in Nottingham
- National Book Tokens
- EcoSwap Gift Cards
- Donation made in your name to a local charity
Users who log a 10 week streak of actions are rewarded with a free coffee or tea out our NTU Catering outlets.
End of year prizes of Vouchers to local Nottingham zero waste shop "Shop Zero" are also provided for users who reach a Bronze, Silver a Gold Milestone of points.
Helping you make a positive impact on a global scale

Each activity theme also aligns with one of the United Nations’ Sustainability Development Goals (SDG’s), allowing participants to understand their positive impact on a global scale as well as at an individual and University level. For example, employees are rewarded for using reusable bottles and reusable cups instead of single use plastics, contributing to SDG12 – Responsible Consumption and Production.
