Why did your company choose to offer apprenticeships?
We are a levy paying employer and wanted to utilise the apprenticeship service to assist us in our mission to create a high performance culture, provide opportunities for employment where some may not have had the chance and expand our training provision within the company to help people further their careers.
What impact have apprentices had on your business?
We have retained almost all our apprentices in full time employment since starting the provision. The impact they have had is that our workforce is more knowledgeable about the opportunities available through working with apprentices, and our apprentices have positively contributed to the achievement of our business goals.
Has the partnership with NTU enhanced your apprenticeship program? If so, how has it done this?
It has enhanced it I so far as to elevate the credibility of our provision. When our workforce find out that we are working with Universities they see the apprenticeship programme and what we do in our department as being somewhat more engaging.
Would you recommend apprenticeships? If yes, why?
I would recommend apprenticeships because I believe that the KSA framework, the standards on which they are built and the way that work is evidenced and checked works far better from an educational and vocational perspective than any previous, government led initiative to get people into work.
Would you recommend NTU’s apprenticeship provision? If yes, why?
I would recommend NTU because of the fantastic communication, learner experience/feedback and the friendly approach by which you do business.
