Your graduation ceremony
How do I find out when my graduation ceremony is?
You can view dates and times on our website.
What time should I arrive?
Graduates should be on City Campus one and a half hours before the ceremony start time. You can find further information on our On the Day pages.
Where should I go when I arrive?
When you arrive, make your way to our Newton building at our City campus to collect your ticket and gown. If you're not sure where that is, try MazeMap.
Where is graduation held?
You'll collect your gown and tickets from Newton building on City campus, and then your graduation ceremony will take place across the road in University Hall. Celebratory refreshments after your ceremony will also be in the Newton building. If you're not sure where to find these locations, try MazeMap.
What happens on the day?

How long will my ceremony last?
Your ceremony will last around 45 minutes. Afterwards, celebratory refreshments will be offered at the Newton building for a further hour.
What happens after the ceremony?
Graduates and guests will be invited to join us for celebratory refreshments in the Newton building.
What is the relaxed ceremony experience?
To make Graduation more accessible, NTU are offering an alternative Graduation experience. This experience is designed for students or guests with learning difficulties, autism, social anxiety, or sensory processing difficulties, but is open to any students or guests who may find this alternative format more comfortable. This ceremony will be taking place on Tuesday 11 July 2023.

This ceremony will be taking place on Tuesday 11 July 2023.
What time is the relaxed ceremony experience?
15-minute morning time slots will be available to book in advance. Alternatively, you can attend in the afternoon at your own convenience, however, please inform us of your attendance. You can register your place here.
How do graduands register for the relaxed ceremony experience?

What else is included within the relaxed ceremony experience?
Photo opportunities with a Presiding Officer and other photo opportunities around the City Campus. Also, refreshments for you and your guests.
Can graduands attend both ceremonies?
Due to the planning and organising involved, we ask that students only attend one ceremony.
Do you have the dates for future Graduation ceremonies?
Yes. The December 2023 Graduation ceremonies start on Monday 11 December until Friday 15 December 2023.
Our July 2024 ceremonies begin on Wednesday 10 July until Friday 26 July 2024.
Registering for graduation
How do I register my attendance?
When registration opens, you can book your place through the registration portal by Friday 31 March 2023.
I won't be attending the graduation ceremony, what do I do?
Let us know if you're not coming to your ceremony through the registration portal.
Guest tickets
How many guest tickets can I have?
During the registration period, you can request two free guest tickets for University Hall when registering your attendance via the registration portal.
Can I bring more guests?
We understand how important your graduation ceremony is for your loved ones. If you want to bring more than two guests, Arkwright Package tickets are available to book by from Monday 26 June 2023 from our online store.
Arkwright Package tickets give your guests access to the live streaming venue in our Arkwright building across from University Hall, where they can watch the ceremony live streamed directly from the Hall. These tickets are unlimited and free.
How do I get my tickets?
Your tickets will be available for collection on the day of your ceremony from the registration desk at City Campus in our Newton building.
Is the seating allocated?
Graduands are allocated a seat for their ceremony to ensure that they can cross the stage and receive their certificate during the ceremony. You will be informed of your seat as you arrive and collect your tickets on the day of your ceremony.
Guest seating is not allocated, and guests are seated on a first come first basis as they arrive at university, unless you have advised us of any alternative arrangements prior to the event.
Graduation gowns and photography
How do I hire my graduation gown?
It's compulsory for all graduating students to wear University academic dress at their ceremony.
To hire or purchase your graduation gown, please visit Ede & Ravenscroft online before Friday 16 June 2023. You can find more information on our Getting Ready for Graduation page.
Where do I collect my gown from?
Gown collection and drop-off will all be in the Newton and Arkwright buildings and will be clearly sign-posted on the day.
How do I book photography?
Marston Photography are NTU's official Graduation supplier. You can find more information on our Getting Ready for Graduation page.
I didn't book my photography in time, can I still get it on the day?
We recommend that you pre-book a time slot to have your photographs taken to save time and money on the day. However, Marston photography should be able to accommodate requests on the day.
Your certificate
When will receive my certificate?
You will be given your degree certificate on the day of your ceremony. If it is not available on the day, your certificate will be posted out to your home address following the ceremony.
I'm not attending, when will I receive my certificate?
Degree certificates will be posted out to your home address within eight weeks of your graduation ceremony. So please make sure your contact details are up to date, so we know where to send your certificate.
Special requirements
Can you help with special requirements?
During the registration process you can detail any requirements that you or your guests may have (for example: wheelchair user, mobility problems, blind/partially sighted or deaf/hearing impairment), and we will make every effort to help you. We will contact you to discuss the arrangements, but if you have any questions, please contact us via email on ntu.graduations@ntu.ac.uk.

How do I get to Nottingham?

Where can I park?
We don't provide parking, but Nottingham has a variety of municipal car parks, as well as park and ride facilities. If you’re intending to park in the city centre, the closest (and largest) facilities to our City Campus are:
- Trinity Square (NG1 4BT)
- Talbot Street (NG1 5GG)
- The Victoria Centre (NG1 3QN
If your car has a blue badge displayed there are several areas near to University Hall where you can park. Visit the Nottingham Parking website for details of city centre parking locations.
Alternatively, there are a number of great public transport options available to get into Nottingham, including the tram, park and ride services and trains.
Are there any hotels close by?
NTU is unable to provide accommodation, but our City campus is located in the very heart of Nottingham city centre, where you will find a number of hotels available.
International student and visitor visas
How can I get a visa letter?

How can I invite my family/friends to attend my graduation?
If any of your guests need a visitor visa to enter the UK, you'll need to get a letter of invitation. You can find the information on our Getting Ready for Graduation page.
