Whether you are self-employed or running a small or medium sized enterprise (SME), public relations (PR) is a vital tool, and it can be hard to understand what we should be doing when it comes to applying it effectively.
On this course, you’ll to apply PR theories to your business to consider what, if anything, you need to be doing differently or better to become more profitable.
You’ll have the opportunity to develop a PR plan for your business, review your current activities, and consider new opportunities.
The course is open to anyone with an interest in PR who wants to develop the knowledge and skills which they can apply in any area of their life.

What you’ll study
On this course, you’ll focus on practical applications of PR and be encouraged to work on developing your PR plan, so you have a practical tool to take away and apply to help you make your business successful.
You’ll look at PR and communications plans and brand identity, think about channels for reaching customers, and consider how everyone engaged in the business is ‘doing PR’, including your stakeholders, existing and previous customers.
It’s delivered through practical exercises and writing techniques to boost your confidence and ignite your passion for PR, learning in a supportive and creative environment.

How you’re taught
The sessions will be delivered through seminars, group discussions and practical activities.
You’ll have the opportunity to share personal projects as well as receive feedback and group critiques.
This course will be delivered in person on Nottingham Trent University city campus.

Campus and facilities
You will be based in the Centre for Broadcasting and Journalism, as part of the School of Social Sciences on the City Campus.
You will find modern teaching spaces and group study environments to develop your ideas and skills as a content creator.
You will receive an email one week before the course starts with joining instructions on where to go for the first day.
You’ll also have access to our library to use outside of your short course; whilst you can’t reserve or take away books, you are welcome to use them as a resource for research and referencing.
Entry requirements
Level: Beginner
Entry requirement: No PR experience is required.
You must be over the age of 18 in order to attend this course.
Fees and funding
The fee for this course is £420.
Payment is due at the time of booking - ask us if you'd prefer an invoice sent to your company.
