Transnational Education (TNE) partnership

Launching of the joint Education Hub

Our teaching pathway arrangements offer a cost-effective way for partner students to complete their studies overseas. Dual and joint teaching partnerships enable both partner and NTU students to graduate with two degrees, helping them make the most of their study time while enhancing their employability through international experience.

A great example of this is the Transnational Education (TNE) partnership between NTU and I-Shou University (ISU) in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Together, we launched an innovative joint Education Hub that hosts a suite of four-year undergraduate programmes in Business, Engineering, and Media Communications.

These courses are taught in English and provide students with a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in both UK and Taiwanese cultures. Students complete the final year of their course in Nottingham.

Our bespoke embedded Pre-sessional English for Academic Purposes (PEAP) course ensures that students not only meet the required English language and academic skill levels but are also well-prepared for academic study at NTU in their final year.

We also run Collaboration Online Learning International (COIL) project of different themes with ISU to give Education Hub students the opportunity to share experiences and collaborate online with students based in the UK. This kind of activity enriches the student experience, regardless of where they are studying.

Excellent Mandarin Programme

As part of the Excellent Mandarin Programme (EMP) led by Taiwan’s Ministry of Education, NTU through our partnership with I-Shou University, has been awarded generous scholarships to support NTU students from all levels and programmes. These scholarships enable students to spend three months in southern Taiwan to learn Mandarin and contribute to ISU’s goal of becoming a bilingual university by 2028.

During their stay, students will engage in 15 hours of Mandarin language and Chinese cultural learning each week. In addition, they will support Education Hub students by assisting with English proficiency for at least four hours per week.

My time studying abroad through the Excellent Mandarin Programme helped me to gain a lot of confidence, independence, and aspiration. The experience has helped me to see other potential career options for my education degree and gain skills that I can carry with me into the working world.
